Holidays are coming once again and this year, more than ever, it’s so important to shop small and support the many incredible independent brands across the UK. If you’re in need of a little gift-giving inspiration, from skincare and scrunchies to essential oils, chocolate and more, discover some of my favourite luxe-led independents in The Luxe List Christmas Gift Guide 2020.
The Beauty Shelf
Debuting just a few weeks ago, Monday Muse is all about supportive skincare. With science-backed formulas to protect and support the skin barrier, the multi-purpose products are here to bring a breath of fresh air to modern skincare routines. The first in the collection to launch is The Nectar – a vitamin facial oil packed with cold-pressed oils and in a travel-friendly 15ml size it makes for a seriously dreamy stocking filler.
Founded by lifelong friends Liha and Abi, LIHA was born from a desire to create natural and organic skincare. Blending African roots with a quintessentially British attitude, the female founder duo have developed a seriously covetable range of luxe lotions and potions that any beauty enthusiast will enjoy discovering – in fact, there’s a discovery kit ready and waiting online…
Palm of Feronia
Introduce all your friends this Christmas to the all-natural, small-batch self-care brand, Palm of Feronia. Female-founded and focused on the ancient principles of aromatherapy and crystal healing, discover effortless self-care gifts including cleansing oils, bath salts and beyond, all beautifully packaged and made in batches of just ten at a time.
Who doesn’t adore a scrunchie? These aren’t just any scrunchies though, every single one is handmade from vintage or reclaimed fabrics by Emma, aka Beau Tie. From lush velvets to leopard print, there’s a scrunchie for every personality, including yours, so why not treat yourself too – ‘tis the season after all.
For the magpies in your circle, Blóma has the embellished goodies you’ve been searching for. This Manchester-based indie accessories brand was born out of a love for vintage jewellery and so the collections take inspiration from the glam of times gone by. Each beaded hair barrette, necklace and pair of earrings is handmade making these little gems even more of a joy to receive.
It wouldn’t be a gift guide without jewellery, and the creations from Lilley Studio are a real treat. Think organic shapes styled with pearls, plus textures like raffia and you’re there. From forever earrings to friendship bracelets – that’s all your girls covered. Oh, and every gift comes in a personalised cotton pouch too, making a lovely keepsake.
Merak & Co
Fragrances are always a favourite to unwrap on December 25th and Merak & Co’s debut ceramic diffuser and essential oil blends really do make for gorgeous gifting. Whoever you’re shopping for, gift them a mood-boosting new daily ritual ready for the new year and choose from an array of scents to get them started.
Artwork is such a thoughtful gift – it’s so personal and so I’m always searching for new artists. I stumbled across Daisy Emerson on Instagram recently and I am obsessed with her style. Specialising in hand-painted type and lettering, her distinctive signs make a stylish addition to modern homes – this open edition Darling screenprint is one of my faves.
Our Lovely Goods
For a soulful home, family-run Our Lovely Goods is sure to be a new favourite. From handwoven homewares to natural wax candles, the brand is rooted in filling homes with kind and lovely things and works with artisans in Nigeria to curate their collections. Note to self – gift to anyone on your list who is all about creating a sanctuary at home.
Sips & Sweets
Meet WNDER, the first modern chocolate brand made in the heart of England. Inspired by the age of wonder and ethically produced, these small-batch perfectly packaged bars blend art and science to create a memorable tasting experience. Oh and just in time for winter, discover the drinking choc too and get ready to gift to all your foodie friends.
I’ve been a big fan of Roundwood Gin since meeting founder Emily at an event last year. Handcrafted in Cambridgeshire, the small-batch gin brings a subtle woodland twist to the classic London Dry recipe, resulting in a deliciously smooth and well-balanced drink that gin connoisseurs will love.
Partner in Wine
Say hello to Partner In Wine and get ready to sip, sit back and relax. Keeping your fave wine the desired temperature on-the-go (or any other drink that takes you fancy for that matter), the bottle and tumbler make the perfect pairing no matter the season. From millennial pink to sleek chrome and classic black, it’s the accessory your friends never knew they needed – until now.
A Little Extra…
Markham & Co.
Say hello to your online destination for truly effortless gifting, Markham & Co. stock some of the nation’s most thoughtful and stylish independents, each sharing the brand’s own ‘gift with kindness’ ethos. With beautiful gift boxes and the option to build your own, the brand takes care of the rest. Simply shop, write a gift message and your gift will be shipped straight to your nearest and dearest.
She Can. She Did.
Last but certainly not least, it’s time for something a little different. As a self-employed female, I’m always actively supporting female-founded businesses and She Can. She Did. is absolutely no exception. Launching the very first benefits programme for female business owners in the UK, the yearly membership is brimming with health and financial benefits, brand rewards and weekly online events and workshops with industry experts. This would make an incredible gift for any female business babe and really is the gift that keeps on giving. And the best bit? When you buy an annual membership for a friend, you get one free for yourself too.
I hope you’ve discovered lots of beautiful new brands in The Luxe List Christmas Gift Guide and now have heaps of inspiration for everyone on your gift list (and maybe some for your own wish list too)!
